The Inspector General (IG) in the Air Force plays a critical role in upholding the integrity and accountability of the organization by providing a confidential avenue for Airmen, Air Force civilians, and their families to report complaints and concerns. The IG is responsible for investigating issues related to fraud, waste, abuse, misconduct, or violations of Air Force policy. This includes addressing complaints about leadership, working conditions, reprisal, and other inappropriate activities.
The IG ensures that complaints are handled fairly, thoroughly, and without fear of retaliation. In addition to investigating complaints, the IG office conducts inspections, audits, and assessments to ensure that units are operating efficiently and effectively in compliance with Air Force standards
By offering a neutral and independent resource for addressing grievances, the Inspector General promotes a culture of accountability, transparency, and trust, ensuring that Airmen and civilians can perform their duties in a fair and just environment.
