Main gate construction project completion
The South Carolina Air National Guard at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, S.C. is wrapping up the $2.2 million new front gate project in January. This National Guard Bureau-funded project features facility improvements are the culmination of planning since 2009, and construction which started in early 2014. The changes at the main gate makes the base current with Department of Defense antiterrorism standards, and features a new gate and gate house, a commercial vehicle inspection area, and a final denial barrier. The new gate house now sits 100 feet further back from Highway 378, complete with anti-ramming protection and ballistic glass. (U.S. Air National Guard photo by 2nd Lt. Stephen Hudson/Released)
