169th SFS, Operation Rita

Staff Sgt. Jeffrey Towe and Technical Sgt. David Gilbert with the 169th Security Forces Squadron at McEntire Joint National Guard Base, S.C., rescue Senior Airman Derek Fish after a simulated attack while responding to an insurgent group posing a threat to local aircraft during a joint exercise, Operation Rita, on February 2, 2012. Security forces are transported by S.C. Army National Guard UH-60 Black Hawks to a destination near the alleged group activity to begin their reconnaissance mission. Operation Rita was conducted due to the mission critical importance of security forces' need to be familiar with Army aviation, as well as loading and unloading from active helicopters.
