"Is It Obvious?"

Sometimes the answer to a complicated question is the obvious. During Basic Military Training, a Military Training Instructor once asked a trainee, "How did you come to my Air Force?" The Trainee replied (after the usual reporting statement), "By an airplane, Sir!" The trainee's hilarious response was the correct answer, but not really the expected answer. One of the Air Force Core values is "Excellence in All We Do." The Air Force expects this to be the normative behavior from all Airmen. However, it is easy to think about shortcuts and just trying to be done with the task.

Looking at the Certified Readiness Evaluation, it is easy to say, "I cannot wait until September 12th!" No one will deny looking forward to putting this CRE behind us. However, the attitude to adopt should be the obvious, "Let us do our very best." For each Airman the obvious and expected answer concerning our attitude for the upcoming inspection is striving for "Excellence in All We Do." There is a very short verse in the Scripture that speaks to the same effect: "Whatever your hand finds to do, do it with your might." Ecclesiastes 9:10a (ESV). This verse is speaking of doing things well with all of your energies: physical and intellectual.

So Swamp Foxes, let us really do our best and put this CRE behind us.
