If you aren't a fan of lemon in your water or want something different, try adding lime to your water and reap the many health benefits. Lime is a great alternative to sodas and other sugary drinks.

Some benefits of limes are:
-Loaded with Vitamin C to encourage a strong immune system.
-High in Potassium. *Potassium is an important mineral that works with sodium for smooth electrical transmission in the brain and nervous system. Depression, anxiety, fogginess, and forgetfulness can often be traced to low potassium blood levels. That same nervous system needs potassium to ensure steady signals to the heart. So your heart health is improved from the lime water's Potassium. Due to increasing your Potassium, this will also aid in lowering your blood pressure.
-Helps to aid in food digestion and system detoxification.
-Boosts your immune system thanks to antiseptic and anti-bacterial properties.
-Helps to fight arthritis by decreasing inflammation.
-Helps prevent stomach, gastrointestinal ulcers and painful mouth ulcers.

There are several ways to incorporate limes into your meal:
-Place thinly sliced limes, peel and all, underneath and around fish before cooking it. Baking or broiling it will soften the slices so they can be eaten along with the fish.
-Combine lime juice with olive or flax oil, freshly crushed garlic and pepper to make a light and refreshing salad dressing.
-If you are watching your salt intake and even if you are not, serve lime wedges with meals as their tartness makes a great salt substitute.
-Combine freshly squeezed lime juice, evaporated cane juice and plain or sparkling water to create your own limeade.
-Change up dinner tonight by tossing seasoned cooked brown rice or quinoa with garden peas, chicken pieces, scallions, pumpkin seeds, lime juice and lime zest.
-Squeeze some lime juice onto an avocado quarter and eat it as is.
