Congresswoman Mace visits McEntire Joint National Guard Base

U.S. Rep. Nancy Mace from Charleston, South Carolina visited McEntire Joint National Guard Base Aug.19, 2021. U.S. Army Maj. Gen. Van McCarty, the adjutant general for South Carolina, and U.S. Air Force Col. Akshai Gandhi, 169th Fighter Wing commander, hosted Congresswoman Mace.

The purpose of her visit was to meet with South Carolina National Guard leadership to discuss the current state of the South Carolina National Guard and future endeavors for the organization. During her visit, she toured the South Carolina Army National Guard’s aviation facility including the AH-64 Apache helicopter simulator. Later she received an aerial tour of McEntire JNGB and the McCrady Training Center aboard a UH-60 Black Hawk helicopter. Her visit concluded with an inspection of a South Carolina Air National Guard F-16 Fighting Falcon jet and a mission briefing from Col. Gandhi in the fighter wing headquarters conference room.
